Hamburger Recipe: How to Make the Best Hamburger
The hamburger is a fast food classic that has conquered the mouths of many people around the world, its juicy meat, soft bread and a variety of ingredients make it one of the most popular and versatile foods, so, here I will show you how to make it step by step.
Necesary Tools
Grill or large frying pan
Wide spatula
Large mixing bowl
Cutting board
Sharp knife
Cooking thermometer (optional)
Hamburger press (optional)
Baking paper
Serving plates
Ingredients
500g of ground beef (80% lean)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
4 hamburger buns
4 slices of cheddar cheese
1 red onion
1 large tomato
4 lettuce leaves
Mayonnaise
Ketchup
Mustard
Step-by-step preparation
Prepare the meat mixture: In a large bowl, combine 500g ground beef with 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper. Mix gently with your hands, avoiding compacting the meat too much to maintain the juicy texture.
Form the patties: Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions. Form each portion into a ball and then flatten into a disk about 1.5 cm thick and 10-12 cm in diameter. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
Prepare the grill or skillet: Preheat your grill or large skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a teaspoon of oil to prevent sticking.
Cook the burgers: Place the burgers on the hot grill or skillet. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time to your preference. For medium-rare, the internal temperature should reach 160°F (71°C).
Add the cheese: During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger and cover the grill or skillet so that the cheese melts completely.
Prepare the buns and vegetables: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the buns on the grill or in a toaster. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Cut the tomato into thin slices and the red onion into thin rings.
Assemble the burgers: Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the base of the bun. Place a lettuce leaf, then the hamburger with melted cheese. Add a slice of tomato and some onion rings. Finish with a touch of ketchup and mustard on top of the bun.
Serve: Present freshly assembled burgers on individual plates. Serve with fries, salad or your favorite side dishes. Serve immediately to enjoy the burger at its optimum temperature and texture.
Tips
Use ground beef with 20% fat for juicy burgers. A mixture of 80% lean meat and 20% fat is ideal for flavor and texture.
Take the meat out of the refrigerator 30 minutes before preparing the burgers. This will ensure more even cooking.
When forming patties, handle the meat gently. Over compacting results in tough patties.
Add salt just before cooking to prevent the meat from losing its juices.
Do not press the hamburger with the spatula during cooking, this causes it to lose its juices.
